If you want to know how to get a free WordPress Blog to start using right now then just head on over to WordPress.com (opens in a new window!) and sign up for a new account. This is easy to do and all the details to get a free blog are just so simple, so follow below…

Get A WordPress Account

When you get to the wordpress.com website you will see the floowing page displayed…

Just click on the SIGN UP NOW button which will take you to the next page in this “getting a free blog” process…

Enter Your Details

Then simply think of a user name you want to use for your account and enter it, and remember that WordPress will tell you if it is already in use. Try to make it something that it is easy for you to remember and shorter will be better but more than likely it might have already gone.

Next create and password and enter it twice to make sure you get it right. The longer and more complicated it is the better and WordPress will indicate how strong your password is as you enter it. Make sure your registers on the scale as “Strong” before moving on, so that hackers will find it hard to guess.

The final field to enter is your email address and you should make it one that you check as WordPress is about to send you a confirmation email which you will need to respond to.

Finally acknowledge their “terms of service” by checking the box at the bottom and then click on the NEXT –> button to go to the following step in the processs…

You will then see the above page displayed informing you of your Blog Domain at WordPress for you new free blog. This is actually the main part of  the web address of your new blog that can be type into the URL field of your web browser to brin up your new blog for you to see in you browser.

SignUp For Your Free Blog

This page also creates the blog title for you blog which you can change now or later if you wish. You can also see that the blog defaults the English language and Public Privacy, which means that everyone, including the search engines, can access it, and this is what you want if you want your blog and the posts you will be writing to be searchable and therefore found in the search engine listings, such as at Google, Bing and Yahoo. Both these settings can be changed if you want to.

When you are happy with the entries on this page then just clcik on the SIGNUP button…

Check Your Email And Activate Your Account

You will then sees another page displayed (as above) which indicates that an email hass been sent to email address that you entered and that you should check it to activate your new WordPress blog account. The message normally gets to your inbox within a minute or so.

On this page you can also add your personal details to your profile if you want to then click on SAVE PROFILE when you are finished…

The email you recieve will look like this:

You need to click on the link in the email to activate your account, so do this now!

Your New Free Blog Account Is Activated!

This will then bring up another web browser window at the WordPress.com site…

It will say YOUR ACCOUNT IS NOW ACTIVE !

You will be able to click on the link shown (eg: myfreeblogtraining.wordpress.com) to go to view your new blog in a web browser and the page also informs you that you have been sent another email confirming your feee WordPress blog login details.

Make a note of the blog link (domain url web address) as you will need this in the future to view and access your free blog.

The email also contains information on additional useful services you can get at WordPress.com.

View Your New Free Blog

You can now see what your new blog looks like by entering into your web browser the blog domain name that WordPress gave (eg: myfreeblogtraining.wordpress.com) and it will look like this:

Login To Your Free Blog At WordPress

Now login to you new free blog by clicking on the link that says LOGIN under the META heading in the bootom right corner of the blog.

This will then bring up a small login window and you should enter your USERNAME and PASSWORD as you set them up earlier to gain access to the administration page for your new blog…

After you have entered them then just click on the blue LOGIN button to get access to your blog.

Another way you can logon is to first go to WordPress.com and then login using your username and pasword in the login aera in the top left hand corner of the screen:

Once you have logged in successfully you will be taken to the WordPress administrator area for you blog and this will look something like this…

This is know as the WordPress Dashboard and it controls everything that you can do on your blog and it is you that controls it!

You Are Now Ready Add Your First Blog Post

This is where you go to add any sort of content such as writing blog posts and pages and you can alter the appearance of your blog easily by changing the theme you blog is using.

In fact there are lots of things you can do here but to start with you can just get familiar with what you see.

Go and write a blog post if you are feeling brave and publish it – you will then be able too view it on your blog instantly by refreshing the blog in your browser!

Don’t worry about what you do as this is a brand new empty blog and you cannot do any damage by messing with it as this point…

When you are done simply click on the LOG OUT link in the top right corner of the dashboard.
